To practice as a professionally qualified social worker in the recruitment, assessment, training, supervision, review and development of foster carers, and the placement, protection and care of children in foster care.
To practice in accordance with best practice, the National Minimum Standards for Fostering Services, the Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and Synergy- Fostering Services Policies and Procedures.
To practice in a non-discriminatory manner and to promote and value diversity for children and carers.
To participate in the on-going training and development of Foster Carers.
To recruit prospective foster carers to provide high quality foster care for children, undertaking initial phone call, initial visits and preparation activities, followed by thorough assessment in accordance with best practice and legislation – and always with safeguarding and child welfare as the priority.
To prepare reports and present them in person to the Fostering Panel, in keeping with legislation, best practice and Synergy Policies and Procedures.
To carry a caseload of foster families.
To supervise foster carers in accordance with the expectations of the National Minimum Standards 2011, Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and Synergy Fostering Policies.
To problem-solve issues and advise and support carers in finding solutions to problems they experience in working with young people during placements.
To maintain records for carers and children in keeping with the Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and Synergy Fostering Policies and Procedures for use of CHARMs database.
To comply with schedule 6 and 7 of the Fostering Services Regulation, in monitoring and reporting significant events and incidents to Ofsted and the Register Manager.
To prepare reports for Annual Reviews of foster carers’ approvals in accordance with legislation and Synergy Fostering Policies and Procedures and to present each review to the Fostering Panel, as appropriate.
To participate in, and undertake actions within, Synergy Fostering child protection and safeguarding procedures and complaints procedures, ensuring any safeguarding concerns are addressed straight away, the Registered Manager is informed immediately and the relevant agencies notified.
To work alongside foster carers who are subject to complaints or child protection procedures.
To observe safe working practices for oneself, colleagues and carers and to adhere to Company Policies regarding Health and Safety.
To contribute to the development and facilitation of a foster carer training and development programme (PDP) with a view to the continuous development of quality services for children.
Offer intensive support at times of stress (i.e. when the carer is subject to an allegation).
Ensure carers have a comprehensive understanding of the Agency’s policies and procedures.
To develop and facilitate Foster Carer Support Groups/ network in conjunction with team colleagues.
To undertake out of hours support to foster carers and placement services on a rota basis with other fostering staff.
To undertake development and training in keeping with the role of a Supervising Social Worker within Synergy Fostering.
To undertake supervisory visits to the foster home every 4-6 weeks.To undertake unannounced visits to the foster home at least twice a year.
To practice in accordance with equal opportunity legislation and valuing diversity amongst staff, carers and children.
To adhere to the Policies and Procedures of Synergy Fostering Ltd.
– Salary £36-43k depending on competency and experience level demonstrated. We base this on previous salary plus 10% which we will reference.
– In addition a productivity bonus depending on caseload to £7200.
