Social Personnel are looking for a Qualified Social Worker to join a Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children Team in Shropshire.



  • Be the allocated worker for children looked after, specifically UASC
  • Ensure that all statutory requirements are met including, Looked after reviews, HAP’s and PEP’s
  • Complete, review and monitor pathway plans
  • Attend the Home Office to support children through the immigration process
  • Undertake front door initial assessments
  • Encourage and support looked after children and leaving care young people to participate in all decision-making processes affecting their lives
  • Provide ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and review for cases
  • Undertake effective analysis and management of risk for allocated children/young people
  • Implement permanency plans and maintain up to date Care or Pathway Plans
  • Monitor and promote health, education and EET needs and any special needs
  • Re-assess children/young people’s needs in the light of changes in circumstances
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and practice standards, including statutory visiting and recording
  • Ensure all records and information systems are kept accurate and up-to-date

What you need:


  • Degree in Social Work or near completion of, or Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW), Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), Certificate in Social Services (CSS)
  • Valid Registration with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council)



  • Post Qualification Award or willingness to work towards qualifying awards


  • Experience in children and families work.
  • An understanding of assessment and an ability to organise and maintain systems/recording. Knowledge of child care legislation, guidance and regulations which pertain to Looked after Children and safeguarding.
  • Experience in undertaking assessments
  • Experience of the case management of Looked after Children



  • Merton Age Assessment Compliant Training
  • Experience of working with unaccompanied asylum seeking children and children who are at risk of trafficking or exploitation.
