About the Role:
Southend Council are currently looking to appoint a Senior Social Worker to supervise all in house foster placements ensuring a high level of care is provided to the LAC.
As a SSW your role is to supervise all in house foster placements ensuring a high level of care is provided to the LAC. You will ensure a high level of safeguarding is in place and support the foster carer/carers to develop their skills in all areas of fostering. you will ensure the placements meets all of SBC fostering standards and that the Foster carer is working within the professional network to a high standard. you will attend meeting in respect of your caseload. you will ensure that your cases are up to date on the LCS system and that all statutory visits are up to date in line with SBC policy. You will be part of a developing service that is seeking to improve the service offered to LAC and foster carers in order to be able to meet demand and deliver a high quality of care it is therefore expected that you would be motivated to achieve this desired outcome.

As A SSW you would ideally have experience as a SSW in a fostering service or that you would have at least four years experience in front line children’s team. You will be a qualified SW and registered with SW England. You will have experience of supervising others and have the ability to train others either 1-1 or as a group. you will have sound IT skills and be able to navigate a system. You will have a good understanding of child development and parenting skills. You will be able to support and challenge as appropriate. You will be creative and able to help others think out of the box. You will be a good team player with a positive attitude towards tasks and development. you will be able to meet deadlines and will need to have very good communication skills.
