Senior Practitoner – Fostering Family & Friends Assessment – Birmingham

Social Personnel are looking for a Senior Practitioner to join the Fostering Family & Friends Assessment team in Birmingham

Duties;

  • To ensure and contribute to improving the quality of professional social work practice across the breath of the work within the Fostering Agency.
  • To undertake robust Recruitment and Assessment of Foster Carers within the Fostering Agency ensuring they will meet the complex needs of the child and Young person Looked after.
  • To provide a professional social work service to Prospective Foster Carers, complying with legislative requirements and in accordance with established best practice.
  • To produce robust and comprehensive form F assessments on prospective foster carers in line with national minimum standards and safer recruitment statutory and legislative requirements.
  • To have a technical/professional expertise and keep all electronic records up to date.
  • To share/communicate a thorough working knowledge of relevant legislation, national standards, guidance, research, departmental policy and procedures.
  • Have good assessment skills and be able to communicate and engage with applicants and their families to ensure safe recruitment of new foster carers.
  • To take a ‘joined-up’ approach to ensuring the effectiveness of collaborative working, actively promoting/encouraging effective partnership working with applicants/panel and other teams/agencies/organisations.
  • To work with marketing recruitment and the agency in recruiting and assessing foster carers who will provide, stable foster placements and best experiences and outcomes for the Children Looked After.
  • To work with support teams to ensure all approved carers handovers are completed within timescales.
  • To ensure that confidentiality and security is maintained in dealing with information in line with the Fostering Agency and Trust  Policies and Procedures, Data Protection and GDPR.
  • To maintain confidentiality and ensure work within GDPR requirements.
  • Ensure self-learning development is ongoing learning.
  • Participates in the regular collection, collation and reporting of appropriate performance information in accordance with statutory and organisational requirements and appraisal requirements
  • Actively participates in training and development activities.
