Job Description

Social Personnel are currently looking for an Occupational therapist to join an adults social care team based in west Sussex.

  • Ability to apply a risk enablement approach and use evidence based practice.
  • Ability to complete a strengths based assessment (as directed by the Care Act 2014).
  • Ability to develop a person centred care and support plan with clearly defined outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to use a variety of information technologies.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work and meet agreed performance expectations. 
  • Undertake strengths based assessments and reviews; gather information, record accurately and make decisions to support the persons needs and outcomes.
  • Proactively work with customers, carers, colleagues and other partners to achieve outcomes.
  • Implement Occupational Therapy interventions, including prescribing assistive technology, designing adaptations to peoples homes and providing information and advice to prevent, reduce or delay the need for ongoing support.
  • Record all interventions in line with policy and best practice recording principles.
  • Remain up to date with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures and codes of conduct, through engaging with training and development, including maintaining continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Contribute to the training and development of Occupational Therapy Assistants and students.

Ensure adults and children are safeguarded by identifying and escalating concerns where required and contributing to safeguarding enquiries.

Qualifications and/or experience:

  • Diploma /BSc Occupational Therapy or equivalent Occupational Therapy  qualification.
  • Registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
