About the Role

We are looking for committed people who to be the directorate lead and champion for co-ordinating health, safety and wellbeing issues and to be central in reviewing, co-ordinating and facilitating the persons at risk panel.

To work closely with corporate Health and Safety colleagues and ensure that the Children and Young People service is complying with all agreed Health and Safety policies.

Manage and devise the agenda items for Children’s Services for the Health & Safety Committee meetings.

Provide regular reports to the senior leadership team and the wider service on relevant health and safety activities

To develop clear reporting mechanisms for incidents and support any Children Services employee who reports intimidating, threatening or violent behaviours and to include data on these in any regular reports to the senior leadership team.

To ensure the development and implementation of robust health and safety at work operational policies and risk assessments.

To be responsible for reviewing, co-ordinating and facilitating the persons at risk panel, including working across the service (Early Help, Prevention and SEND and Schools and Learning) to support services to risk assess and manage home and lone visits safely.

To develop communications to raise awareness of the policies and operational procedures and highlight the issues and risks for staff.

To establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits.

To ensure complaints are dealt with in a timely and effective manner, finding early resolutions to issues.

 

About You

Social Worker Qualification and current registration with SWE,

to demonstrate an understanding, knowledge, and ability to follow guidelines that ensures compliances with Health and Safety at Work, Data Protection, and other statutory requirements,

experience of handling of H&S investigations

experience of formulating, implementing and revising H&S policies and procedures,

ability to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements,

experience of dealing with complex and sensitive complaints,

ability to work in, and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
