Social Personnel are looking for a Independent Reviewing Officer to join the team in Barking and Dagenham.


We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Independent Reviewing Manager, who has experience of being an IRO and managing teams.



  • You will hold a small caseload of looked after children for whom you will be the IRO, as well as play a key role in the management and running of the IRO service, working with social workers, team managers and partners to support our looked after children and to improve outcomes.
  • As well as providing supervision, guidance and support to the Independent Reviewing Officers we are in the process of developing our Corporate Parenting services, so this role will play a pivotal part in these changes.


What you need:

  • You must have a social work qualification and be HCPC registered
  • In addition to this, it is essential to have worked as an IRO and have knowledge and experience of safeguarding, managing change, supervision of staff and relevant legislation and statutory guidance
  • In addition to your significant experience of working creatively with children you will be able to demonstrate how you have been able to build strong, meaningful relationships with children from diverse backgrounds, their families, and key agencies and how you have used quality assurance and analysis to further understand and improve the experience of children in care and also their outcomes.
