Social Personnel are looking for a Autism Operational And Strategic Lead (Band 8A) to join a Adult Community Service in Guernsey. 


  • To be the operational and strategic lead for autism for the Bailiwick of Guernsey
  • To hold line management and clinical lead responsibility for the autism hub and outreach service which will be located at Le Vieux Jardin
  • To lead on the implementation of the autism framework ensuring partnership working with all key agencies and stakeholder group
  • To chair the autism steering group and lead on the implementation of the Autism Framework in Guernsey
  • To work with the department, academic and third sectors to identify need and develop appropriate support services
  • To work in conjunction with the service manager in developing the short, medium and long term goals for autism services and the autism hub
  • To work with the Service Manager on the development of operational policies for the autism hub
  • To lead on the repatriation of service users from the UK to the autism hub
  • To lead on work with housing and other professionals on the design and fit out of the hub as a whole but specifically on individual service user homes
  • To identify unmet needs and prioritise service initiatives for service development with service managers
  • To lead and coordinate specialist autism expertise to other departments across the States of Guernsey supporting those with autistic spectrum disorder
  • To lead on the development and delivery of autism specific training both within and outside of HSC
  • To be clinical line manager for the Autism Hub and the Autism Outreach Service in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the Adult Disability Service and Health and Social Care
  • To participate in the selection and recruitment of the manager of the autism hub and autism outreach staff
  • To offer advice to learning disability / autism service team members in their clinical work in cases where autism expertise is necessary


What you need:

  • Registered Health or Social Care Professional
  • Degree
  • Masters level qualification in autism related field
  • Mentor for the BTEC in positive behavioural support
  • BTEC in positive behavioural support level 4
  • Experience – Team management Working within a positive behaviour support framework · Working with autistic children and /or adults and those with learning disabilities · Working in multi-disciplinary settings · Assessing and managing a range of clinical issues especially behaviours of concern
