Are You a Sponsored Social Worker in the U.K.? You Need to Read This…
It seems the common consensus amongst international Social Workers is A) it’s bloody hard work obtaining a job as a Social Worker in the U.K. and B) once you do find a Local Authority to sponsor you, you’re pretty much stuck with them.
But what if your dreams of working in England haven’t quite married up to your expectations? What if you’ve come over to find that ‘settling in’ to a new location, in a new country, hasn’t been quite as easy as you’d hoped? I would like to bust the myth that once you start a permanent role as a sponsored Social Worker, you are tied to your employer for the foreseeable. Permanent doesn’t mean forever and no one should feel trapped in a job where they’re not happy.
I’m working with a Council, in a desirable location (outside of pricey London), looking for Social Workers to join their small and friendly teams across Children’s Services. Not only are this
Council willing to take on the sponsorship of International Social Workers, they are also offering a generous Relocation Package of up to £8,000 to ease the burden of, and complication that comes with, moving house. They’re offering salaries of up to £37,444 initially, plus support with your progression, and have an excellent record of internal progression – this Council want to promote their hardworking staff and see them excel in their careers.
What’s more, as an agency working closely with the Council, we’re on hand throughout the whole process, to tell you all you need to know about the role, to arrange and prep you for your initial interview, to help with finding accommodation and most importantly, to keep in touch after your move, to ensure you’re settling into your new community and getting the most out of the wonderful Seaside town and all it has to offer.

Away from the commotion of the Capital City, this Council is located close enough to London, with quick and easy access for weekend trips to the theatre or for a spot of Oxford Street shopping. However, there’s plenty to see and do in this charming part of the Country, including a diverse food/café culture with some restaurants and eateries along the seafront and in the town centre. There’s a beach, Arcade and Pleasure Pier attracting tourists, especially during the Summer months, giving the town a vibrant and energetic feel.
If any of this resonates with you, if you’re in the U.K. and not completely happy with your Sponsored position, please get in touch with us at Social Personnel and take the first step to a fresh start and the career development you deserve.
