Wednesday 20th June saw the SP team take a day away from our desk, don the finest suits, and fanciest fascinators for a day at Royal Ascot.
We arrived early, to get a great spot and were all able to be course side to give the Queen our best royal waves as she passed. The weather was very much on our side, the sun was out all day and stronger than many of us realised as we went home with rather red faces and some interesting tan lines! We were sadly not quite so lucky with the horses, a couple of small wins, but no one left being able to hand their notice in to retire – which is probably a good thing! We finished the day having a good old sing song at the band stand, waving our flags proudly, belting out the best of British…and Frank Sinatra, because us Brits do love New York, New York don’t we?
A great day was had by all, it was wonderful to be out with colleagues and not in work mode. I think we all came away knowing a little more about each other and being a little bit closer as a team. A we all know who not to trust when giving tips on horses!
Here are a few highlights from there day….until next year Royal Ascot!
